Customize conversation panels

Conversa Labs

Last updated on Oct 21, 2026

Overview

The sidebar brings together conversation context and actions. Arrange, hide and restore the available panels. Administrators can also define an account default or require one layout for everyone. Hiding a panel changes presentation; it does not turn off services or change permissions.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the conversation and the modules you want to see.
  • Account administrator access to change the account default.
  • The relevant Maestro action grant and access to the conversation, team and inbox.

Step by step

  1. Open a conversation and select Customize panels above the sidebar list. This control stays available even when every panel is hidden.
  2. Check the panels you want to show or uncheck the ones you want to hide.
  3. Drag the dedicated handle or use the move up/down buttons. The handle also supports Alt + Up/Down from the keyboard.
  4. Select Save. Cancel discards the draft. Manual order survives reload and conversation changes.
  5. To inherit again, choose Use account default and save. This affects only your preference in this account.

Settings & options

  • My layout: a personal preference, independent of other users and accounts.
  • Account default: administrators set the order and visibility inherited by members.
  • Require this layout for everyone: the account layout takes precedence. Personal layouts remain saved and return when customization is allowed again.
  • Restore system default: in account scope, prepares the original default in the draft; Save applies it.
  • The layout source and required mode are shown beside customization. Panels temporarily unavailable through a module or permission retain their preferences.

Use cases

  • Keep tasks, payments or organizations close to the context you use most.
  • Arrange Translation, Transcription, Maestro and Actions together with the other panels.
  • Standardize a team sidebar without erasing members’ personal layouts.

Tips, limits & best practices

  • Expansion and visibility are independent; hiding does not reset expansion.

  • In the existing access profile editor, administrators choose Maestro actions separately. Allowing resume does not allow pause, switching robots, changing mode or requesting suggestions.

  • Copilot/Hybrid/Autopilot mode applies to this conversation. Global robot configuration remains subject to administrative authorization.

  • An action grant never grants access to another conversation or module. Authorization is checked again on each request.

  • Resume does not automatically replay retained messages; replay has its own grant and confirmation.

  • Ask Maestro uses only this conversation history for delegated profiles. It cannot search other conversations, contact profiles, knowledge bases or external data. Tool and entity selectors are available only in the full administrative mode.

  • Create media opens image, voice and video cards directly, without requiring Ask. Enter text, generate and review the preview. Delegated generation cannot use avatars, image references, URLs or selected resources; proposed references must be explicitly removed.

  • Send prepared media has its own permission. Generating a preview does not grant sending it, and sending does not grant generation.

  • Eligible Sales actions are exactly leaderboard, recognition, listing commercial approvals and deciding a commercial approval. Each keeps native Sales permissions and resource scope. Other CRM, calendar, task or catalog action cards are unavailable to delegated profiles.

  • Approve a pending macro requires both the approval and macro permissions, plus native access to that actual macro. Viewing and rejecting pending actions remain separate. An unavailable delegation or a paused/expired action cannot be approved.

  • Resume does not grant permission to clear memory. When the robot is configured to reset on resume, both permissions are required. Missing service support blocks a new delegated resume. An existing request keeps its identifier and context for safe recovery.

  • Delegated suggestions and summaries also use only this conversation transcript, without contact-profile or external-source lookup. Their grants are independent of Ask.

Troubleshooting

  • Every panel disappeared: open Customize panels, show the panels you need and save, or use the account default.
  • Customization is unavailable: check whether an administrator requires the account layout. Your personal layout stays saved.
  • Another administrator changed the default: your stale draft cannot overwrite it. Reload the account default, review and save again. Reloading replaces the current draft.
  • Loading or saving failed: try again. A failed save keeps the draft for review.
  • A Maestro action is unavailable: ask an administrator to check the access profile, conversation scope and operation availability. Showing the panel does not grant the action.

Recovering and temporary access

Header shortcuts can open Maestro temporarily even when its card is hidden by your layout or the required account layout. Close Maestro panel, or Escape after closing any inner selector, returns to the saved presentation without changing hidden panels or personal overrides. Account/conversation changes and permission revocation end this temporary access.

To move a panel directly by keyboard, focus Move [panel] and press Alt + ArrowUp/ArrowDown. The dialog also offers move buttons. A move is confirmed only after saving; on failure the previous order is restored and you must move it again. A failed dialog save keeps its draft instead.

Preparing a reply checks your current access. A slow or failed check ends with Try again; it never grants permission or leaves an endless spinner. Retry checks the current conversation again. Delegated generation accepts its text-only tool and arguments from the JSON body; tool/args in the URL query are refused before generation or cost. A video needs a valid prompt before Generate is available.
